During our recent visit to Buccament Bay Resort, we took time out to see what’s happening at Argyle Airport and have added the latest videos and images from the site last month, estimated completion is due 2013 … You’ll also see a recent video of Glen Beache, CEO of SVG Tourism Authority talking about expected incoming flights from Gatwick, British Airways, and Virgin Atlantic from mid 2014 to the island.
Everything stays on course for St Vincent and the Grenadines’ Argyle International Airport to open in late 2013, according to Glen Beache, CEO of the country’s tourism authority (SVG).
The airport is possibly the greatest development project in the tropical isle’s history and has completed the levelling of a mountain and three hills, in addition to the filling in of four valleys. Costing around $240 million.
Beache says that the SVG tourism authority has been in conversation with most airlines from early 2008 and is fairly close to having the ability to state which carriers will be functioning to this new modern airport. He states that agreements with airlines will certainly be in place by spring next year and he anticipates operations to Argyle airport from America, Canada and the UK from airports featuring London Gatwick, Puerto Rico, Florida, Atlanta and Toronto.
Great news for the region … as the airport will have the capacity of 1.4 million passengers per year and has a runway that can accommodate all aircraft currently being used — and in development for the future.
